ABOUT US

What is Jurassic Mainframe?
Jurassic Mainframe is a fansite dedicated to all things Jurassic Park and Jurassic World. This includes the movies themselves, the novels, comics, merchandise, video games, and more! The website is community run by dedicated fans who love this franchise and dinosaurs with all their hearts. It exists to provide a haven for discussion, excitement, and sharing for the Jurassic fandom. The primary focus of the site is its bustling forum, where the heart of discussion and information sharing exists. This is where the website began and continues to grow from, but our aspirations are higher than just that of being a forum! We intend to keep growing and expanding the site to encompass as much as possible, from being a source of general Jurassic news to providing information on the franchise itself. And nothing helps fuel those aspirations more than people like you, who visit the site and make it worthwhile! We hope you'll continue to support our website and, if you haven't yet, join the forums and become part of the discussion yourself!

A History Lesson
There was once a website called Jurassic Park Legacy that served as the Jurassic Park fandom's main hub of activity. In 2012, creator and owner of Jurassic Mainframe, Pokesaurus, created a basic version of Mainframe to serve as a backup in the event Jurassic Park Legacy were to be shut down. At that time, Jurassic Mainframe went by the name of "Jurassic Park Legends" and wasn't very well put together as it was hoped its existence would ultimately be unnecessary. Later that year, Jurassic Park Legends changed its name to Jurassic Park Fiction, but was otherwise still mostly the same as before, and would remain that way until June of 2016.

In early June 2016, it was announced that Jurassic Park Legacy would be shutting down. In the wake of this announcement, Pokesaurus and other remaining Jurassic Park Legacy staff members knew it was time to get Jurassic Mainframe back online to serve as the new home for the Jurassic community. Within the final hours of Jurassic Park Legacy's operation, this website was opened up and advertised as Jurassic Park Portal. Immediately, work began on preserving as much of Jurassic Park Legacy as possible and ensuring there was a smooth transition between sites. More and more work was done to make the website even better, and towards the end of 2016 the name of the site was changed one final time from Jurassic Park Portal to Jurassic Mainframe.

From that point onward, not much major changed or happened until Fall of 2017. With the announcement of the Frontier Developments video game Jurassic World Evolution and the first trailer for the film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom dropped, the wheels of change began turning again from that point on. The site has grown tremendously in the past two years and we staff here are excited to see what the future holds for both this site and the fandom, and we hope that you are too, whether you're a long time member or a prospective member who hasn't yet made an account and joined (we hope you do)!
