Bio: One of the most well known
hadrosaurs, or as they are more commonly called, "Duck-billed dinosaurs" after their unique scoop-shaped mouth,
Parasaurolophus is also one of the largest. Feeding off mostly shrubbery in late-Cretaceous North America, then called Laramidia,
Parasaurolophus was a prime target for
Tyrannosaurs to feast upon.
Role in
Jurassic Park: A herd of animals is first seen around a small lake with a herd a
Brachiosaurus in in the "Welcome to Jurassic Park" scene. The animal is not seen in a foreground shot until the capture scene in
The Lost World: Jurassic Park, where one is tranquilized and captured by the InGen harvesters to be shipped to JP: San Diego. However, before any animals can be brought back to the US, Nick Van Owen and Sarah Harding sneak into the InGen encampment and release all the dinosaurs, including the
Parasaur. We once again find
Parasaurolophus as part of the herd of hadrosaurs that stampede in
Jurassic Park ///. In
Jurassic World, Parasaurolophus is seen among the dinosaurs in the Gyrosphere Valley. A pair of them can be spotted fighting in the background.
