I doubt the Vikings exercise that. He is past 30, making a boatload and trading him would still penalize them. If they feel he can make them a playoff contender next year over any other free agent maybe...but....football isn't a running game anymore...at least not for now.

There are plenty of teams that rely heavily on the run game, and Minnesota is one of those teams due to the fact that they dont really have any other weapons on offense.

4 teams ran for 2000 yards this season (1 is playoff caliber). 9 teams did it in 2006. 2006 average per team 1876. 2016=1743

Passing yards 4000 2006=3     2016=13!!!!!!!!     Average per team 2006=3276   2016=3863

1000 yard rushers 2016=12 (7 in 2015!!!!!!)       2006=23

500 yard rushers 2016=34 down ten from 2015     2006=46

Rushing is down. Fact only 7 even reached 1000 last year proves the de-emphasis on that aspect. Off the top of my head only a handful of teams need a running back; the Bears (mainly because the brass idiotically traded an all-pro receiver and the current starting tight end for the New England Patriots--who lovingly refers to himself as a dinosaur lmao. OH and Jeffrey is on the way out it seems), Zeke Elliot (he only plays behind the best line and with Prescott having a season under his belt, Bryant and witten his value drops), Todd Gurley (Rams O is a travesty), and Demarco Murray (Wright fell off the face of the planet and their TE whose name escapes me is the only other weapon). Le'Veon Bell is an all-pro but he plays with Antonio Brown and Roethlisberger.

Vikings have a rising player in Stefon Diggs with 80 catches in 13 games of action and pro bowl caliber player in kyle rudolph. Add another receiver and the viking don't need Peterson. Asiata and McKinnon can do the job.

All this said, is Peterson worth quarterback money? No. He takes up too much cap, is too old and the league is moving away from him at this moment. (Actually just looked at his contract in the middle of this comment and they can dump or trade him like a sack of potatoes. All his guaranteed money is done and is only due a 6 mil roster bonus in two months besides his base salary. Which no one will pay for. No one is doing 18 mil for a 31 yr old running back with a decade on his plate)

It looks like the Raiders are trying to move to Las Vegas, Nevada.

I also believe that Nevada is going to have an NHL team in the near future, too.

NHL does indeed have a Vegas team, Golden Knights.

Raiders would be perfect for Vegas, but I disagree with the move. Way to spit on the Black Hole YET AGAIN.

Very dangerous mixing gambling and sports.

It's going to be an uphill battle. The Pats defense stopped the Steelers when they were 4th & Goal twice. They only gave up the one touchdown when the Steelers had no hope to win. Atlanta has a great offense, but how good is their defense? Unless it steps up all of a sudden, I don't see how their defense can stop Tom Brady. I do see the Pats defense stopping/slowing down the Falcons offense just enough to prevent Atlanta getting a Super Bowl win.

Atlanta shut down both Seattle and Green Bay and they probably would of shut down Dallas too had Dallas advanced. New England can be beaten in the Super Bowl, just ask the Giants.

True, but the Giants had a far superior defense in both their victories the Atlanta does. Not only that, but the Seahawks weren't what they were a few years ago and Green Bay had a crappy secondary. That and Rogers may have had been thinking about his personal issues.

The Falcons defense is decent and they got the d coordinator that last coached Seattle when it was dominant as HC. But you never, ever bet against Bill Belichick. The Giants any given Sunday'd them twice but there is a reason they've gone 7 times and Belichick is arguably the best coach in history.

Well he is affiliated with the Blackhawks due to his son...so the same rule applies....plus he has won a ton o' titles and games for the Habs and Wings. And yes, his name is sweet. Wink Don't bet against him. Razz

Oh maybe you mean best coach? Well I mean Belichick for football. Hard to pick best for all sports.

I assume you have been talking of american football all this time because I haven't got a clue of any of it.

Daytona 24 Hours will be on this weekend. But I'll pass. It's the ugly duckling sister of Le Mans. DPs might be gone, but unfortunately the new "DPi"s are basically the same exact thing in ideology, only with modern LMP2 under those fake OEM body panels. You know instead of 1960's NASCAR tube frame tech. And the winner of the race will be based on who gets the lucky cards in the lottery game of balance of performance, and manages to navigate through the constant caution wave-bys the best. It's all politics and entertainment these days. So over the weekend I'll watch some IBSF instead.

This title is kinda misleading. They havent given up their bid, just the bid to move is in jeopardy because of their financial backers pulling out of the deal.

Colin Kaepernick is going to be a free agent.

This needed to happen. After the 49er's let Jim Harbaugh go the Michigan, which was one of the dumbest moments in their history, everything imploded after that. The whole team needs to be rebuilt. The only questions are where is Kaepernick going to go.

To be fair, you could argue that was mainly Harbaugh's choice to have Kaepernick be 'the guy' and not the organization.

The New England Patriots come back from a 21-3 deficit to win the first Super Bowl in over time with the final score being 34-28. Tom Brady is also the first quarterback to win 5 Super Bowls.

The Falcons just couldn't keep the momentum that they had in the 1st half and made some really bad mistakes in the 2nd half. That and they may have got cocky. We know how well that works out.

Roger Goodell had his feelings hurt by the Roger clown shirt that Patriot's defense coordinator, Matt Patrica, wore.

I find it sad that he'd more bothered by this and not by all the light penalties that many players have gotten for domestic abuse under his watch. In fact, I hope the Patriots win the next 3 Super Bowls by 40-50 points, just to spite this guy even more.

San Diego SUPER Chargers had a much better ring than LA Chargers or San Diego Raiders. Bleh.

Kaep is from Wisconsin iirc or he was a packers fan. Sure he'd take discount to back up Rodgers. Though GB hates FAs. The Cleveland Browns seem like the obvious choice though. I doubt the bears take him unless he is a stopgap until a drafted rookie is ready and they cut Cutler as well.

Bears don't need any help from the NFLPA to lure FAs away from there team. Razz Half the teams in the city are filled with dunces...looking at you Jerry Reinsdorf and McCaskeys. And their GMs...

Loria was trash anyway. You shouldn't say that but he was honestly scum. Wins 2 world series and sells off the integral parts immediately after both times. THEN goes on a spending spree to get Miami to agree to a new stadium and then trades THEM a year after THAT. Deceiving them just to get a stadium to make more money and lo and behold the team attendance tanked anyway as predicted since attendance was never strong and they won't see a bad team with a deceitful owner. Good riddance. MLB team needs better ownership than that.

Not sure whenever to post this here or in the TV forums so I decided to post this here.

It looks like ESPN is going to layoff a few of their on-air people.

Also, if the Cowboys get rid of Tony Romo, he could go to the Bronco's.
