Best Human Villain?

Who was the best of the worst?

I choose Nedry! He was the reason we didn't get JP for 20 years!

Vic Hoskins, he simply amuses me. I can listen to his one-liners and cartoony slurs again and again.

Henry Wu.

Ludlow, of course. I can sympathize with Nedry, being taken for granted when supposedly his position is super important to the park (been in that position myself and it's awful), so I could understand his motives, even if I didn't necessarily agree with his actions; he could've handled that situation better and still made Hammond look silly. But Ludlow, he didn't care at all of the human cost so long as he got what he wanted.

Anyway, I never found Ludlow to be a villain, more like an antagonist. But anyway, I liked him in his role. I think I'll pick Dennis Nedry, he kinda had a charm and his death was great.

Good points. I'm now torn between Ludlow, because he was so slimy about what he was doing and how he did it, and Hoskins because hes just about the same.

I like Hoskins, he's charismatic, but when I look how he was writen, I see that he's super cartoonistic, he's like that villain who is "evil just to be evil", so that's a huge flaw IMO, that's why I don't put him as the best villain of the franchise.

I must admit that the Jurassic franchise never had memorable human villains. But if I have to choose, I go with Peter Ludlow, although he would have been much more better if they kept that boardroom deleted scene from TLW.

To be honest, this franchise is unfortunately pretty shallow when it comes to decent villains.

Exactly what I would say, the franchise lacks it, almost all are antagonist that make this a necessity beyond evil, and Dennis Nedry I can classify villain only to what I needed and woefully behind it the Jurassic Park failure . I think if we talk about my favorite is Ludlow antagonists also by the fact as systematic took control of InGen and all its opposite thought of animals.

I think we all agree we need a Dodgson type villain in the next movie.

From my understanding, "antagonist" is basically anything in opposition of the main hero but isn't necessarily making it his goal to be an enemy. A villain is straight-up trying to inflict as much harm to the hero as possible. With that said, I don't think anyone in the movies counts as a true villain, but they definitely fit being antagonists.

It's not the same thing.  An antagonist is someone who is opposing the protagonist.  A villain is dependent on morality irrespective of whether they're the point of view character or the one opposing them. So, Wu doesn't necessary opposes the protagonists (Owen and Claire) bc he's evil or want to do evil stuff. He opposes them bc while they would likely want every company to stop making dinosaurs, Wu would still want to create new dinosaurs bc science. He wants something opposite to what Owen and Claire do.

I've never seen Wu as a villain. He's to me more like an ambiguous character.

Yep. Unless they make him a villain in JW2, but I don't think it will be the case. Meanwhile, he's a greyish ambiguous character, someone that can do both good and bad things, it just depends on the point of view.

I wouldn't even consider Nedry to be a villain really. In the book he was basically bullied by Hammond into creating an enormous operating system for the park and was constantly harassed and blackmailed into fixing its numerous bugs. You can understand the motive behind Nedry wanting revenge. HOWEVER, since that isn't film canon, I would have to go Nedry, even though novel canon wise, Dodgson is the greatest villain.
