| So I've been weighing an option and have been having trouble deciding which one I want to go with, so I decided to do something a bit different. Instead of just having the staff decide everything all of the time, I believe occasional public opinion polls that can affect the outcome of certain forum decisions is a good way to keep the members of this forum involved in it's upkeep. There will be no fixed intervals or specific criteria for when these polls will happen, and they will largely be held for more cosmetic changes to the site. But in general, I think it's a step in the right direction. For our first ever public poll, you, the forum users, will be responsible for deciding what the home page of this site will be. There are two options. One, is how it is now, with you automatically loading up the forum itself and that's it. The second option is to have our home page be this portal page here: https://jurassicmainframe.forumotion.com/portal . This page contains a plethora of useful things to look at upon loading it up. It gives you a quick way to sign in, it shows a "leaderboard" for who the most active posters in a week are, it shows the most popular threads as of the time you look at it, and most importantly, it gives you quick access to the most recent news posts right there on the page. The page is similarly laid out to the JPL home page in a way. The downside to using this is not being immediately placed on the forums. Keep in mind that regardless, the portal page will continue to exist, and can be accessed via the button to the top left, on the toolbar. This poll to choose will run for the next two days, and whichever option has the most votes shall win. On your mark, get set, VOTE! _______________ Welcome to Jurassic Mainframe. | I love democracy on forums, it is rare to find. That was technically one of my main issues with JPLegacy.
Anyway, the portal page, in my opinion, is much more interesting, it has stats and information laid out for you, and you can still reach the main forums very easily. I definitely think it would be the better option, but that is only my opinion. _______________ "All major theme parks have delays. When they opened Disneyland in 1956, nothing worked!"
