Do you have any pets? Talk about them here! Whether it's cats or dogs or something a bit more unusual, we do not discriminate here!

My Rose Hair:

Pink Toe:

Sorry for the size of the pics. These are older pics from my other digital camera before it broke, so I was not able to get pics of the other 3. I will try to in the future, but in the mean time I'll just have to get some online.

I have a Shih-Tzu/Pomeranian mix named Oscar, a ocelot-ish cat named (get this) Bazooka, and I used to have two other pets.

I used to have an Egyptian Mau named Tyra, but she was put to sleep because of multiple health issues, including a failing liver. May she forever R.I.P in my heart.

I also used to have a Beta named Neon, because of his neon blue and black color scheme. He died a little while after I got him due to issues I don't want to bring up.

I had some of them once, but unfortunately they didn't make it, you know, the story with the water.

Well, as pet I have a cat and I like it xD Maybe, but only when I live alone one day, I want to get a snake. But for now my cat is enough Wink

All I've ever had in the way of pets is some cat we were looking after for a couple days for this animal protection joint, and maybe six or seven fish, all but one of which died within months. The surviving fish went on to live another four years before finally kicking the bucket.

That's about it. Guess I'm just not much of a pet person.

I got two dogs, and some fish.

The fish are two of these huge armored catfish sucker-things that live practically forever. They're both like 12 inches long, and will probably grow larger.

As for my dogs, one's a Terrier/Schnauzer mix, and has the attitude to boot. He seems to like me though, as he always wants me to walk him.

My other dog is a purebred Britanny puppy. And by puppy I mean...rambunctious for lack of a better word. He always gets into dominance fights with my other dog, and always loses.

Even though the Schnauzer is like a head shorter then him Razz

Here's a picture of the Britanny.

He's a regular menace to society.

Such beautiful tarantulas!
I myself also have a G. rosea.
I enjoy the calmer species. Easier to handle and show off like my B. smithi.
Though my T. blondi is quite docile as well, but my G. granti will try and kill you..
Such diversity in tarantulas and spiders!

Is that A. avicularia I see or a different subspecies?

I'll also show everyone a picture of my male H. carolinensis! Just a lil' sneak peak of whats to be seen in the near future!

@BobGrill,

What a beauty! I need to increase my invertebrate collection quite a bit. Too many species to choose from and my reptile room is getting quite full!
I'll take some pics of my T. blondi soon. You should definitely think about getting one of those.

@Ammonites,

What species is that? I'm not too familiar with cockroaches.

They're Giant Cave Cockroaches, sometimes called Trinidads. Fully grown adults can be 4 inches long, they come from the Amazon. From birth until death they can live about 18 months.

If you want to see them in a movie you can watch "Creepy Crawlers." They mixed young Trinidads with Madagascar Hissers, then used adult Trinidads for the final stage.

Very interesting behavior. When they get older, especially the adults, if they find a piece of food they like they'll pick it up and take it into a corner so they can eat it by themselves. They have wings but can't fly, although they can flap the wings and descend a lot slower and they do jump.

Very fun critters Very Happy

Wow.. They grow to an impressive size.
I'll be sure to check out that movie whenever I have the chance too.
Do you know how much they cost?

Now, the moment all of you have been waiting for! Except for Theta.. Lol.
My beautiful, large T. blondi!

It's been awhile since I was able to measure her, but she's anywhere from 9-10" long.

Hahaha. If that is the case I don't want to be the one responisble for his medical bills or even worse.. His funeral expenses!
& thank you for the comment.

EDIT: I woke up quite early this morning. So, I decided to visit my animals. I did some early morning feedings and decided to show you guys the rest of my 'spiders'. So, without further adieu..

My large female B. smithi, the Mexican Red-kneed Tarantula.

Feasting on a large grasshopper I found in the backyard the other day. She's roughly has a 6" long legspan (give or take).

Next we have my female H. carolinensis, the Carolina Wolf Spider.

Experimenting with different substrates for these Wolfies. She's currently in a sand and dry potting soil mixture while the male is in a coco fibre, sand, and potting soil mix.

One of my favourite invertebrates in my whole collection.. G. granti, the Egyptian Banded Solifugid! (Also known as a Camel Spider.)

This guy will surely give anyone who doesn't like spiders and other invertebrates a run for their money!

In all seriousness though, spiders are fine when they're in pictures. Certainly not heart attack worthy anyway. So don't get your hopes up...

I had one before and it only lived for about 3 months. I got it as an adult though. So, I'm assuming it was an older individual and possibly wild caught. However.. I had this one for almost a year now. I got it while it was still young and I was told it was captive breed. So, far so good. This particular one will even crawl on my hand.. When it's in a good mood..

Going to be taking some photos of my few species of centipedes & African Giant Millipedes. Stay tuned for those!

The barbs aren't venomous, the dorsal fin is.

The barbs are just regular catfish whiskers. If you had been stung with venom it'd swell, get infected and you'd be in quite a bit of pain.

So...I see you guys love spiders. affraid I have aracnophobia so just looking at those tarantula pics it makes me nervous XD. I know tarantulas are harmless but their size/look still makes me afraid haha

At least none of you tried the Brazilian wandering spider. Shocked

So, I have 2 dogs now and 1 canary. My older dog is 13 years old and the younger is 3. They're both daschrounds. I'll se if I can take pics.

I also had fish when I was a kid but as I said in the other thread, they died bc I was very ignorant and didn't know they needed a lot of things.

I plan to have fish and maybe a lizard like iguana or even a snake when I have my own house.

Found a baby Alligator Snapping Turtle in my parents pool skimmer yesterday. Little guy hadn't been there long so I rescued him and took him inside. Turns out they're endangered in my neck of the woods, and to be honest, I'm not even sure where he came from as we don't live close to any major bodies of water.

We kept him for a day, gave him a rock and enough water to swim in, but he didn't seem to want to eat crickets, or the worm we put in his cage, and so today we drove up to nice little pond out of the way of things and let him go there. Put him down a few feet and watched him haul it as fast as he could to the water.
