The Meg

The opening scene featuring a T-Rex hunting hadrosaurs next to the ocean before being killed itself by a meg. I know it's not accurate as Megs didn't exist in the Cretaceous period but it's a great scene.

The chaos at the end where the Meg is attacking the huge group of boats, ships and helicopters that have assembled to take pictures of the Meg.

The ending where Jonas get swallowed by the meg whole and has to stab it's heart and fight his way out (sounds cheesy but the scene in the books is awesome.)

It was alright. The CGI was pretty good, and it was great to finally see a megalodon on screen with modern visual effects. The scenes in the Marianas Trench were beautiful. Statham was good in the lead role, the rest of the cast were nothing special but serviceable for this kind of movie. The little girl was funny.

I have no complaints about anything that was in the film.

My complaints come from what was not in the film.

They omitted far too many awesome scenes from the book for no good reason.

There were 4 or 5 helicopters in this movie, and each time I was expecting the iconic meg-attacks-helicopter scene from the novel, but it never happens!

They changed the awesome way that the meg gets to the surface in the book (the meg is feeding on a smaller meg that is being pulled to the surface, and the blood makes it warm enough for the meg to survive the ascent). I don't know why they would change this, because the reason in the movie is stupid. Although I will admit that the surprise appearance of the second meg was a pretty cool moment in the movie.

Many other iconic scenes from the book were cut such as the T-Rex attack scene and the surfer scene.

The third act was similar but on a disappointingly smaller scale than the book...

And while the way Jonas kills the meg in the movie is pretty cool, it is not as cool as the way he kills it in the books (stabbing it in the heart after being swallowed whole). I really wanted to see that scene too.

I also thought that they should have made the Marianas Trench scenes scarier and more atmospheric.
