| I've found it ironic that despite how Jurassic World revived the Jurassic Park franchise, how two big major JP fan sites, Dan's JP3 Page and Jurassic Park Legacy have been shut down. Therefore, for all the former JPL'ers here. I have to ask.
If JW did poorly to above average and did not revive the franchise, would the shutdown of JPL, and to a certain extent, Dan's JP3 Page, been easier to take?

| Never. I would be still attached to that site. The place is great, with so many great ppl. I'm so glad everyone is here. _______________ "Chaos theory is a pseudoscience you asshole" - Headcanon line from Sickle_ClawFormer JPL member, Spinosaur4.4. | |

| Jurassic Park Legacy shutting down would have had no effect on the situation if JW made 25$ and half a PBJ. And Dan's JP3 page was shut down because the owner hated JW. | |

| I dont think JPL was nearly just about Jurassic Park. I really think it was a safe heaven for a lot of us. Geeks, Nerds, and Broken people honestly. I dont mean any of that in a mean way, after all they all fit me. What I see is a community with one interest in common brought together by it. However, we then followed our interests whether it were books, films, artwork, RPG's, or anything even off topic. Little groups of similar people were formed. A lot of those people became friends. I know I felt that way about LTL players. I was dealing with depression and it was such a good outlet. I see a lot of other people talk about aging or getting over issues with the help of the community. I think JP/JW only played half a role in the whole site.

| Knowing that we would still get another film would almost definitely lessen the blow. Not knowing if a fifth film would even happen, on the other hand, would probably make people really upset.
Now, if the shutdown had happened while we were STILL waiting on a fourth film with no end in sight, I think members would have been angry that they no longer had a place to express their frustration at the lack of movement in the franchise and they would also see it as the fandom "giving up".
Those are just my thoughts, of course. I never really thought about it until this thread, to be honest. _______________ "These creatures require our absence to survive, not our help. And if we could only step aside and trust in nature, life will find a way."

You are 100% correct my friend. I was disappointed in JW. But that didn't matter. What mattered was the people who understand the love for this franchise. Yea we are "geeks", but that's great. Birds of a feather flock together. It's always great to have a community that understands where you are at in life. That understands your obsessions with comics and movies. And that shares that love, and helps you through the hard times together. Great post.

Great post. Thank you, its just how I really felt about it. When I lost my membership, I took it very hard and this is why I've realized. It wasn't just Jurassic Park it was the people, the community. _______________ Jurassic Role Play: Live The Legend Redux

| Probably not, because at the end of the day it was still a community where people went to hang out and conversate with others, even if it wasn't about the series. I'm on a TMNT forum that's been around forever and they haven't shut down due to dislike for the PD films as of yet. _______________ Last Movie Watched: Firestarter (2022). | Nothing related to JW would've changed my (and our) reaction to JPL being shut down. | |

| I wouldn't be any less or more disappointed with JPL shutting down. JW may have given me more interest in the series, but JPL was a mainstay in my addiction. | |

| For me personally, no, it wouldn't have made a difference. I joined JPL when things were just getting going for JW, and went from there. It was always the community, something I hope to preserve here. _______________ Make the Sayles JP IV script into an animated series! Admit it, you'd watch it.
