| So, a few months ago some people tried to rob us. There was a guy and a girl. They had just busted open our door when we drove into the driveway (we were just moving in.) They tried to leave but my mom jumped out of our van and stood in their way. I got out too and stood with her. They yelled at us to move, but we refused. My mom told them to give us back our stuff. Then the guy brought out a rifle and told us that if we didn't get out of their way, he would shoot us all. So we moved and they left. RCMP officer came by, we told him what happened, gave him the license plate number and left it at that. Anyway, this was a long time ago, and you might be wondering why I'm posting about it in this thread. Well, today I just found out that the guy who tried to rob us is now in jail, along with his mother. Not for the attempted robbery, but for killing his father. For the record, his father's been missing for six years. That means that we were dealing with a murderer on that day.

His mother had to helped him in someway. And I wonder what took the police so long to find out what happened. I mean, and don't take this the wrong way, I get that Canada is a big country with a relatively small population. But even so, one would think that the one guy would have been serving prison time by now.

Not even got out at all. And since they had a gun it would be self defense.

Yeah, I don't know why it took them six years to figure this out. On a side note I just learned that the guy's name is Neal. Great, I'll never be able to use Neal for a name again lol.

| I had a bad day. I left my phone on the train, which I'll need to retrieve tomorrow morning from the train station lost and found (I'm going to know the guy at the lost and found desk by first name before I retire, I just know it), the truck I bought blew another brake line while I was fixing the front brakes, and I made a mess of my tuna fish sandwich during dinner.

| So a few days ago my mom put together a chicken-door for the chicken coop. Winter's coming round, which means it'll get much colder (duh) and the big human-size door that we're currently using to get in and out of the coop will let in too much freezing cold air in when the snow hits. A smaller door will do much better. Thing is, the chickens aren't too fond about this new arrangement; we're having trouble getting them to use the ramp we installed. Because of this, one of our chickens, Wheaton, who is probably on the low end of the pecking order, has gotten a real beating. She was all bloodied up this morning so I lured her into the house with some seeds and caught her. We sprayed some purple substance on her wings that's supposed to kill the infection while also dissuading the other chickens from turning her into a snack. Don't feel too bad for Wheaton though. She's a real jerk to the ducks lol. | |

| So yesterday I went on a date. The first time I've ever been on a date ever. Met up on OK Cupid or one of these sites. Probably was the only girl ever to actually respond to me in a meaningful way. (one of only 4 out of maybe 200 girls I messaged. 2 just sent me 1 message back, 1 ghosted, and this one was the last one)
Anyway so we set a time at a coffee shop and I think its just going okay. The shop was a bit loud and I'm hard of hearing so kept asking her to repeat stuff. Then idk its just like "oh what are your hobbies, oh whats your favorite movie?" And then she didnt drink the coffee I bought for her even after half an hour claiming she didnt like it 'hot'. I was like "okay" and then took a call for like 5 minutes in the middle of the date and walked outside to take it. Leaving me just checking my phone, sipping my frappucino.
Anyway after she got back, I started trying to talk about like "oh I saw in your pics you went to the grand canyon" and she was like "yeah" and showed me pics, and I kind of overshared about where the places I had gone, and then she was like "oh sorry I got to go".
I was like "okay" considering things were pretty just pretty much "okay" throughout the entire date. I shook hands with her saying "oh it was great to meet you" and left at the conclusion, but yeah it just seemed kind of rote with asking the regular questions and not really feeling a spark.
She was cute yeah but honestly just didnt feel it was 'there' for either of us. I left not feeling sad but more like 'meh' because I mean i just didnt feel any sort of connection whatsoever and I dont think she did either.

| Well, if there was nothing there for either of you, then there's not much anyone can do about it. If it's not meant to be, it's not meant to be.
You'll find somebody though. You're a great, interesting dude with a lot to offer a girl (and you're not hard on the eyes either *wink*). I'm certainly not the one to take dating advice from, but if I did have a piece of advice, I'd say don't stress out about it. It'll happen when it happens.

That's great man I met someone I knew for 5 years online only recently, non romantic. But it was still terrifying. You got guts man. Hopefully this will transition into even more confidence and we can work on finding you the right person.

| Man I am tired. Started the day with some good old fashioned adrenaline-boosting athletics. Climbed on top of the rickety chicken coup to help my mother attach a tarp to the roof, which was no simple thing. That roof was sloped and I really thought I was going to fall off a few times. Didn't help that I was wearing sandals. To get a better grip on the shingles, I took my sandals and socks off, leaving me bare-foot. Which wasn't so bad -- I actually like walking around in my bare feet. But it was really windy and I was cold! Anyway, we got that done, and now, hopefully, I won't have to be climbing up any roofs for a while. | |

| Had a really fun day. My photo class got special access to the city library's archives where we got to handle original prints from the 1893 Columbian World Exposition as well as view original artifacts from the fair. We had to sign waivers to document them, and promise we wouldn't post any of the photos we took of the documents to social media. | |

Why didn't they want them posted to social media? Wouldn't it make sense TO post them as some form of backups if the originals were lost/destroyed or get ruined by time?

Some of the mages are still under their original copyrights, some of them are under the ownership of the library. Either way, the library only grants access to the archives for either research or personal enjoyment purposes. They don't allow access for public entertainment, and stuff published to social media is considered public domain.

It's still available for for research purposes, for free mind you, but like I said, items under copyright can't be reproduced and put into the public domain. It would be the same as if I scanned an entire chapter of any Harry Potter book from a library and posted them up on Facebook. The books may be in a public library, but they're there for personal consumption or research purposes. You cant take something that's copyrighted and just make it public.
