So, what baby names are banned in your country?

Psh, I'm thinking waaaay too vanilla! "Toby", "Bailey?" Why not "Boaty McBoatface!" Why not "John Hammond!"

Some countries are very strict when it comes to the names parents can give their children. Icelandic citizens can't have names starting with or containing the letter 'C' because this letter isn't part of the Icelandic alphabet. In a number of European countries such as Denmark, Portugal and Norway, parents have to choose names from a government-approved list. A Norwegian mother ended up spending a few days in jail for refusing to pay a $420 fine for naming her son "Gesher". A Dutch couple once tried to name their child "Anus" whilst a couple from New Zealand wanted to name their twins "Fish" and "Chips".

It turns out the letters 'Q' and 'W' aren't in the Icelandic alphabet either, so names containing these letters are also banned. Also, if you live in Saudi Arabia, you can't name your daughter 'Linda', 'Alice', 'Laura', 'Sandy', 'Lauren' or 'Elaine'.

Who would name their kid Traffic to begin with? Then again, there are plenty of stupid names given to kids in the States.

I'd love to know what parent in their right mind would want to name their children "Scrotum" and "Sex Fruit".

A few years ago, a couple in New Zealand named their daughter "Tallulah Does The Hula From Hawaii". The poor kid had to live with this embarrassing name for nine years before she was able to get her name changed to something more suitable. Anyway, here's a list of normal-sounding names that are banned in Portugal: Aidan, Bruce, Claude, Heidi, Jimmy, Logan, Rihanna, Mary Ann, Kathleen, Jenny, Douglas, Charlotte and Ashley.
