I think we need a new Site B map as well as Troodon's Jurassic World map. Now, we have the locations, like the Game Trail, Worker's village, etc, and I think we should make a new map of Isla Sorna to go with this new era in the fandom. We can use the old JPLegacy map, which I saved, and the film prop as sort of a "guide" to make it. We can use similar tactics that JPL used in theirs and make one that's even better! What do u say?Isla Sorna Map Sorna12 Isla Sorna Map Islaso10

The JPLegacy my is accurate.

I think it would be interesting to see the known range of certain animals that we know exist on Isla Sorna, but that might not be entirely realistic.

Is there a larger version or a way to zoom in on that map? I can't read it.

The top one is based off of this image of the satellite feed from Hammond's computer:
Isla Sorna Map LXHeBU3
As well as the Las Cinco Muertes map found in the trailers:
Isla Sorna Map A8bab5ccf5_91855248_o2

The bottom map is based on a scan of this production used prop map based on the older script of TLW, prior to the addition of the San Diego scene.
Isla Sorna Map 7a8AVqh

The topography and locations are different from the final film, which is why it's considered noncanon.

Based on film evidence, the first map posted there is considered to be the canon one. A major difference is the location of the Workers' Village; in the original map its location was given in the south of the island, whereas in the film, Ludlow's comment that the raptors nest in the island interior based on thermal signatures (and the Workers' Village appears to be right next to the raptors' nesting site) means that it's in the middle of the island.

A pretty solid chunk of Isla Sorna remains unexplored, as of today. The southeast has barely been touched. But, I think making a dinosaur population map for the rest of the island is fairly reasonable, we can at least point out the known nesting sites and game trails/grazing and hunting grounds.

If you want to, go ahead. I'm a lazy little crap and I'm not good with doing edits on computers, nor do I have enough knowledge of the Jurassic Park universe to make something that. So I'm not going to go anywhere near something like that, but I would love for someone else to slave away and do it for me. Very Happy Razz

First off we have to even consider what species are on Isla Sorna? How many? The animals seen on Isla Sorna are:
-Tyrannosaurus
-Spinosaurus
-Velociraptor
-Compsognathus
-Pteranodon
-Mamenchisaurus
-Gallimimus
-Parasaurolophus
-Triceratops
-Stegosaurus
-Brachiosaurus
-Ankylosaurus
-Ceratosaurus
-Corythosaurus
-Pachycephalosaurus
-Anatotitan/Edmontosaurus (Skull in background of baby Tyrannosaurus nest)
-Muttaburrasaurus? (Is this confirmed? I know there is lore surrounding it, but it definitely doesn't appear in any of the films)

Then you have to think about the other first film trilogy canon dinosaurs that we don't know are there. I assume we wouldn't include these because we don't know if they are even THERE:
-Dilophosaurus
-Segisaurus
-Herrerasaurus
-Baryonyx
-Proceratosaurus
-Metriacanthosaurus

I assume a large majority of these animals have no known range, or even if they exist. So we have to just ignore them and make a population map off of what we know. What do we know? I'm not super into the Jurassic park lore as some of the people on here so I don't even know where to begin with making a map like that.

I would assume Dilophosaurus is in fact on Isla Sorna due to it being on one of Roland's dinosaur info sheets. I don't think InGen would give him a sheet with a dinosaur that wasn't there – that would be pointless and irritate him.

True, and IMHO, I think all species that Ingen created have at least somewhat of a population on Isla Sorna. But, for now, let's look at the ones we know are on the island. First off, Tyrannosaurus Rex. We need to figure out just how many specimens there are and their territories. Now, head canons may clash, but we can come up with a compromise if they do.

We know there are at least four confirmed specimens: Buck, Doe, Infant, and the JP/// male.

The rex family started out near the northeast corner of the island, didn't they? And then moved west in pursuit of the humans, moving their territory with them.

The male from JP/// wasn't actually that far from where the family ended up, being a few miles even further west.

Well, we can cross off JP3 because of his death. Now, according to Trespasser, Ingen grew 7 T.rexes. I consider this canon, since 7 adult Rexes would give the species a better chance and better fitness than just 2 adults and 1 infant. What do you think?

Let's just stick with the four we know of at the moment, just to make it easier. We know the Rex territory changed after TLW to be in that big central area, bumped right up to the Raptor territory. Their former territory included the TLW game trail, all the way southwest to their nest. That territory shifted to Cathy's Beach all the way to the temporary base camp near the raptor territory when they followed Sarah Harding, whom had the blood of their infant on her jacket.

The TLW Raptor pack owned the Worker Village and the long grass territory.

The JP/// T. rex.... I'm guessing at here. I really don't know whose territory it was in, but I assume it was north, next to the TLW group.

The JP/// Spino seemed to have territory all the way from the airstrip all the way south to the where it's feces was found, just a little north of the marina/construction site, or whatever that place with the construction equipment was. Problem is, the landing strip is also in the middle of JP/// Raptor territory, which nested near the Embryonics facility.

I've drawn up a rough sketch of what this may look like:

Is it possible the raptors and the Spinosaurus co-existed? I know that seems highly unlikely, but perhaps the raptors simply stay out of the Spinosaurus' way. I mean, it doesn't sound plausible that with all of the predators on the island, the territories don't overlap at least somewhat.

Seams reasonable! However, before the Buck and Doe changed territories, there were already thermal signatures of T.rex right above the long grass and Worker's Village, so IMO, it's safe to assume there are more T.rex in that area. Also, according to JPLegacy's map, the island is over 400 square miles, so it's a pretty big island, large enough to support at least a few T.rex families and solitary animals.

Also, I agree that the territories would probably overlap somewhat. However, there is such a thing as ecological niches. So each predator could probably have a different niche or prey type to avoid competition. (T.rex would take on the heavily armored game, like the Trikes and Stegos, and the larger hadrosaurs, Spinosaurus would fish in the island's rivers, and the raptors would hunt smaller dinosaurs, like Pachy's and Galli's.

Spinosaurus seems to be a primarily aquatic animal (as in real life), so it might have generally kept to the rivers and lakes while the raptors hunted on land. The noise of the plane landing could potentially have lured it out of the water.

Very true. Maybe this Spinosaur was a young male who was going through something similar to musth in Bull Elephants, thus the enhanced aggression.

But I digress, I'll work in the T.rex map for now, as soon as we can come up with a compromised, reasonable population (with the debate of there being more T.rexes than the 4 we saw in the movies)

Seems good to me.

Assuming that the Spinosaurus didn't leave its own territory during the course of the film, it appears to control the area known as the Deep Channel on the original map (the large inlet in the island's interior). All but one of its appearances are immediately next to the Channel; the exception is its initial appearance near the airstrip where it was likely lured in by the sound of the airplane. Other than that, it appears near the Aviary (which is on the Channel) and then at the construction site within the Channel itself. We also see its dung on the Channel's banks, so we know that it was there at one point during the film.

Alright, here's my final T.rex population map. Assuming that each family has 1 or 2 offspring each. Some of this is speculation, but that's the beauty of unexplored horizons: you can make educated guesses.
Speaking of Spinosaurus, that is the next population map. Now, this may be the most controversial, because in my head canon, there is a viable population of Spinosaurus on the island.

If we assume their territory is based around the Deep Channel, there's room for a couple individuals there. The individual from the film is based along the western shore of the Channel, particularly around the Aviary and surrounding area, but it's possible that others could have inhabited the various parts of the Channel that haven't been seen in the film yet.

Very true. And there are more than just 1 big river on the island, so that would be a good home for a few more individuals

Here's my Spinosaurus Population map. Now, I've decided on something. I'll make 2 versions of each population map, one based on hard evidence (Films), and the other on speculation and head canon. Then, you can vote on which one you prefer. First is a poll for the T.rex maps. T.rex Map Poll

I definitely prefer the film canon map. Head canon begins to stray from reality and that's fine if kept separate, but I do really prefer to just keep to the facts or thereabout.
