Jurassic Park Tabletop RPG -WIP -

Hey everyone,

So to keep things brief, I was inspired to work on a Jurassic Park Tabletop RPG using the D6 Dice system, specifically using Star Wars as a basis while using other elements of OpenD6.

What I am aiming to do is include as many elements from the franchise as possible from the films to the video game to the toylines (Yes, T-Rex Turner and the gang will be available as NPCs heheh). I will try to have EVERYTHING. It will also include a lot of official Canon and non-canon Lore as well as elements of my own creation in order to fill in certain gaps (as well as expand the game as a whole).

I wanted to create this thread in order to map out my progress and have a place for others to check out the rules, correct lore, and give ideas and suggestions(with proper credit) as well as remind me of things I may forget. I would also like to recruit anyone who wants to help out!

I am pretty much a 1 man team and don't mind staying that way, but a little help will always be nice.

This sounds really interesting! I love tabletop roleplays and would love to know more, since I think your idea does have a lot of potential.

Is it set at any specific point in the franchise, meaning when does your RPG take place in the timeline? Are both Nublar and Sorna included as settings?

I am glad that I have piqued your interest!

The RPG itself is meant to be a set of rules for people to use when running a Jurassic themed game. It will contain stats for all things related to the franchise so that game masters can pick and choose their favorite elements to create a story that appeals to them and their players. This is why I will be including stats for elements from Jurassic Park Adventures, Dino Defender, the toylines, etc. Basically, the RPG will contain stats, rules, and information on all things Jurassic.

As for its setting, the main focus will be on the film universe (I will be releasing a Novel Sourcebook for those that want to set their adventure in the Novel universe). Since it will appeal to a large majority of casual and hardcore fans. There is no specific point that it is set but I want to include "pre-made" adventures set in various time points such as Post-JP, Post-TLW, Pre-JW, etc.

I will be including Nublar Sorna, Los Cincos Muertes, Sanctuary, etc. I want to include EVERYTHING ahahaha

I have to ask, but will there be elements from the Telltale game as well? Such as the Troodon and the Tylosaurus?

Yes, I will have stats, rules and guidelines for elements of the TellTale Game (it will be treated as a Non-Canon source)

My next question is regarding character creation. Will there be an option for players to create dinosaur characters or will they only be able to play as human characters?

I hadn't considered letting players play as Dinosaurs, as I wanted the RPG to have players play as humans only. I will having rules for dinosaur companions in the style of Blue.

For now, I will be focusing on human related stuff however once it is all done, I will work on something for Dinosaur characters (unless someone wants to get started on that and we can collaborate)

Finishing up the rules now. I have pretty much everything done however I forgot to include a chapter about Survival and how Game masters will want to implement survival aspects into the story from finding food and water to setting up a base camp, etc.

Once that is done, I will compile it into a V1 rulebook, afterwards will be the lore and sourcebooks, and after that the pre-generated adventures

Finished the rules however I will be retyping it to refine certain aspects, fix spelling mistakes, and make sure it is all logical and consistent.

The main rules have been completed.

Revisions on the "player section" coming soon (Basically the main rulebook comes in 2 sections, the first is dedicated to the players and everything they need to know about character creation as well as basic rules and mechanics for the game. The second section is dedicated to the Game Master and it teaches them everything they need to know to run a game and create an adventure. The rules are detailed there). Once this is done, the lore books and character stats and everything else will begin work.

Writing down ideas to design a website to showcase it on as well as receive criticisms, comments, suggestions, etc. I will also dedicate more frequent updates on there as they will be related to the game (updates such as "Dominion Sourcebook coming, what to expect", or "Novel Sourcebook coming soon" "Novel sourcebook preview", and what not)

I am also going to redesign the player sheets and see what I can change, add, remove, etc.
