That's one of the things I'm most looking forward to. What exactly are they going to do with the dinosaurs after the Nublar scenes? I remember early on hearing Trevs talk about what different uses dinosaurs could have going forward. I'm really looking forward to seeing how that's elaborated on.

I'm sure we will. Taking into account all of what Trevorrow has said thus far, it really seems like he wants to take the franchise in a pretty bold direction for these last couple of films. And I'm not talking about weaponizing the dinosaurs

Keep in mind that he's the one that stated he didn't want to do another "People running away from dinosaurs on an island" film.

Remember the "Mac vs PC" comparisons he was making early on"? Seeing that elaborated on would be pretty sick.

Well that news just made me a lot more excited.

Ian Malcolm is back for a useless fanservice. Now you can do whatever you want Universal, just add hybrids there, no one will care bc everybody will be foccused on Malcolm for the rest of JW2. It's the truth, by the way. Nobody will foccus on anything except "Jeff in JW2".

What's he's going to do? Say more moralist useless stuff? Is he really going to stop the bad guys from making dinosaurs? No, he has 0 use for the plot. It's just a fanservice thing.

Aww shucks. Alright Colin and gang, for once I have to thank you for bringing back something I actually wanted. Now obviously, it's one thing to have him there, but another altogether to have script where the character is actually written into it meaningfully without feeling convoluted or forced, and that will have to be seen later. But this is a first step. And as I've said before, I 100% believe it is possible for it to be natural with good script. Characters can be modified to fit the situation much more easily than some other elements.



As a side note, I can't see Sorna not getting mentioned in some form now, it'd be too weird. Also there are now two characters who will have appeared in more than just two films in the franchise.

Before I have more butthurt attack, what do you guys think? 5 min cameo or actually role in it?

I'm not sure if they'd even announce cameo. That'd be somewhat lame

It's bit late in the production, well relatively speaking, so I don't think it will be primary role, but supporting character. IDK like screen time equivalent of Arnold?

Some people are saying he'll be main character, I really doubt it.

By the way, hope he doesn't meet somebody...I don't want Malcolm making fun or science/scientists anymore.

I actually wish he never sees the dinosaurs, but just hangs out somewhere in US or wherever far away, commenting about the situation, maybe as part of some committee. It would not only make it more plausible to have his presence there but give different characterization. He doesn't need to be serious action man like in TLW, but also not the exact same comic relief science guy as in JP. Give him some mathematician background and personal traits back from JP, but in limited form. Also lines about Sorna and comments of why this is all nonsense

Better to stay cautious but optimistic than hold a purely negative mindset.

For the credits billing, I'd bet for "And" spot which Attenborough had for the first two and Khan for JW (JP3 had none for some reason)

I'm fine with him appearing in any manner, whether it be brief cameo or as a side character. Maybe even as a main character. I think the JW series (is that what we're calling it now?) could use a character or two like Malcolm to help more closely connect it with the original trilogy (wow using these terms really feels weird).

I don't think his role is big. They've been in the middle of shooting for some time now and his involvement just now was announced. And it's not being marketed as a big surprise, and if they wanted to keep him a secret they would have waited until longer to announce it. So his role probably isn't too important or too big. Maybe more than a cameo, but not a major character.

I agree. I liked JW fine, but it really needed something to connect it to the original trilogy (the first two films in particular) other than Wu, who's role in the first film really wasn't much of anything anyways.

It'll create a sense of cohesion and hopefully make things seem a little more linear.

I think the leaked pics of the Dilo maquette/animatronic was pretty much as much confirmation as we need of that.

Hey man, I know I'm overreacting. This franchise meant so much for me. And this character specially, meant a hope, a dream I had since a kid. Now it's all shattered. I'm really sad. It's unbeliavable. I'll have to deal with it, like I did with this...uh, might I say, trashy life. A kinda of a metaphore, yes, JP franchise is that. I'm invisible.

 I'm too sentimental, I guess haha
