Spielberg doesn't want Netflix movies to be in the Oscars.
This man is past his prime and doesn't get how blockbusters or franchises work anymore. Who is he to argue? The last great movie he made was Lincoln and it took 3-4 years to make.

Hmph! Well, I for one agree with the old man. If you want your internet movie to be considered, stick it in a movie theater and not on a PPV site. I'm not paying for 5 different subscriptions.
Not to mention, I found Ready Player One to be a great Spielberg movie.

Roma came to a movie theater. Granted it wasn’t a worldwide showing like your latest MCU film, but they showed it in places around the country just like other limited release films. And I think even if your movie is limited release it deserves a chance. Netflix didn’t follow those guidelines with movies like Beasts of no nation, so they weren’t nominated. So Spielberg comes off kinda ignorant imo. Roma was a technical masterpiece best seen in theaters.
A country wide release would have been great! But I think it was far too niche for that.
And yeah, RPO was pretty good.

I agree with the Bearded One as well. If they considered all the streaming films for the Oscars, there would be WAY too many films competing in each category for one thing.

It looks like the new Hellboy movie will bomb and had many backstage problems.
One of which actually was a dispute over A TREE!
Quote wrote:
One insider described a prolonged dispute over a surreal tree that figures prominently in the film. Marshall wanted a realistic-looking, asymmetrical tree. But the insider said Levin overruled him, insisting on a symmetrical tree. Then, in postproduction, the tree became asymmetrical again. Singer disputed any suggestion that Levin “somehow mucked it up in a back-and-forth tug-of-war over symmetry versus asymmetry,” adding: “The design of the tree, like hundreds of other design elements in the movie, went through an exhaustive design and evolution process.”

That trailer is an outright mess. This movie will go one of 2 ways.
1. It will be like Zilla '98: It will make a profit, but it will be so small yet will get killed so bad by fans, GA, and critics that it wouldn't really be worth it.
2. It will outright bomb hard.

CBS and Viacom are coming back together.
This is great news for Viacom considering how they themselves are in debt of at least $1 billion and how their movie branch is somewhere between $12-$15 billion in debt.
Former Disney Channel child actress Bella Thorne will be directing an adult movie.
I heard that she had some ugly personal problems in life, but she must have had some really dark things done to her if she's doing this.

An update on Spielberg's next two projects...
It seems he's directing and co-writing a "coming-of-age" film which is loosely inspired by his own childhood; apparently there are characters based both on a young Steven Spielberg and his parents. It's currently casting, and will supposedly shoot this Summer for a planned release next year. So, promising...or ET without an alien?
He's also producing a Netflix series with the Duffer Brothers (of "Stranger Things" fame), adapting Stephen King's novel "The Talisman". Basically, it's a pretty typically Amblin-type story about a pre-teen boy going on a journey through America and another dimension, with a werewolf sidekick and otherworldly goings-on.
