Whoa. Fun fact: I actually recently applied to Aberystwyth University in Wales, so who knows I might have the chance to visit where they're about to film Jurassic World 2!!!

Apparently, the spanish city where Bayona studied (Terrassa) is petitioning Universal to use it as location for JW2.

I personally think petitions are rarely useful, but I'm pretty sure they will shoot some scenes somewhere in Spain, since Bayona stated in an interview that he dreamed to do that

*sigh* That sounds really dumb. They'd have to literally work that location into the script. Why are the characters here? What are they here for? Who will be there? All so they can get their name out there (thats the only reason they are doing this).

And it'll be hybrids again, just accept it. Universal won't hear anything, they don't care what fans think, they care about what sells. If fans start complaining too much, they'll just put some fanservice like Grant or Malcolm so everyone will shut up and forget anything.

Yeah I'm being negative here, but that's it.

There was nothing to show and the film is 2 years away. People have to stop wanting every bit of information rushed out, it kills any enjoyment I or anyone else may have for a film in general, not just Jurassic World 2. If there's an official title to the film, it's probably under a NDA so it doesn't get leaked out, that's why studios always create "working titles" so nothing gets spoiled. I honestly doubt "Ancient Futures" or whatever it was for this film is going to stick, because it sounds terrible.

the Working title for Jurassic World was Ebb Tide.

The working title for SW8 is 'Space Bear'

The Working title for Star Trek 4 is 'Green Harvest'.

The working title "Ancient Futures" doesn't have any 'secret code', but it's clearly a pun based on the plot of the film, because "Futures" is also the term for a kind of trading merch (the dinosaurs in this case), and they're ancient. So "ancient" and "future" sort of makes a pun (I wonder if Michael Giacchino would use this pun for one of his JW2 eventual tracks lol).
Nothing like a "secret code" here or too much informations about the story, it's just a pun and clearly based on dinosaurs.

So... are the rumours/news really slow this time around, or not reaching these boards, or am I just impatient?

So far no casting news has occurred at all. Nothing really solid. I do not count the Daddario or the Benoist rumors as solid. Remember, this movie does not come out for another 2 years. And I suppose we won't hear anything cast-wise or title-wise until the end of the year. 'Ancient Futures' I do not believe is the final title, just some placeholder, and I believe Universal may be waiting for an official announcement in any event.

Just be patient guys.

It's been a dry month that's for sure, absolutely nothing, hoping for some news however small next month...

I can't help but wonder if he was broken by JP3 and all the delays. I remember reading on JPL that there were rumors that he got drunk during the production of JP3, most likely due to how frustrated he was with the movie. That and how he was on the absurd merry-go-round of scripts, producers, directors, scriptwriters, actors/actresses, until the lunacy finally ended in 2013, and I really believe that he no longer has it in him because of all that.

That's really a shame, since I don't want JP3 to be the final JP movie that we see him in. Oh well, at least we still have hope that Malcolm will make a real appearance.

It's sad to think that he would never appear in another Jurassic movie after JP3, I would have imagined that he might have had a change of heart between the success of Jurassic World and the strong chances of JW2 also being a hit.

No ones trying to flame anyone or trying to get anyone riled up...but wanting everything thrown at the fandom before they even start to film leaves us with a year of essentially inactivity in terms of news. Let it come when it comes. If we had the cast list, the title of the film, the plot, and everything else inbetween now? The excitement would die down quickly.

Bryce talks a little bit about how she is losing weight in preparation for the sequel :

"Now, I am getting ready for (the) Jurassic (sequel) with fitness and all that."

Also :

The heels thing we've known since...last year? Yeah the fitness thing isn't really surprising. Starting a fitness regiment is actually pretty standard for any big action movie.

No not the heels thing, the rumoured larger role sentence, I mean she already had a big role in JW. Sounds like she will be the main character of the sequel over Owen again. Also have to consider Chris Pratt will be busy with GOTG2 & Avengers stuff next year so his filming window will be limited compared to Bryce's.

It's quite dead now...I think the title should be announced soon...

yeah it was, but who knows with this production. Anyway I think October for something substantial.

Somehow I really don't that's just production and marketing costs combined, since the marketing on the first film was so extensive and insane and I doubt they'll lower the budget for the sequel. Which means if it IS the production budget, that's just effing MENTAL!!.

There is a mathematical discrepancy however, since 100% more of anything is double the initial amount; meaning instead of costing $150 million it would come up to $300 million in production costs.

Noticed that too. Well, it's still like a bit more than 100 millions more than the first JW budget.

I think it's just the production budget too.

The Force Awakens budget was 245 million dollars, for comparison.

No fan wants to see the Jurassic World trilogy just become Transformers with dinos and validate some of the haters' narrow-minded verdict that that's what the series has become. I'm not writing the movie off yet, it is a year and three quarters away, but my concern is where the money is going and whether the effects and action will override the story or not.

Trevorrow had not experience with VFX before Jurassic World. Bayona, on the other hand, already dealt with big VFX movies (although not as big as a Jurassic movie, of course), and it did great things.
He loves using practical sets, miniatures, and looks like he used an animatronic head for some scenes of the monster in A Monster Calls. For the CGI, first reactions say the monster in A Monster Calls could be Oscar-worthy.

That is also my line of optimism as well, since Bayona has been in the business much longer than Trevorrow and has more experience as a storyteller and visual effects director. I have completely faith in him to such a degree that people are giving me funny looks whenever I say "I'm looking forward to Jurassic World 2!" - never forget that there was at least one idiot out there who actually thought Spielberg would peg someone like McG to direct the next film... and may that loser eat crow!!

That's a huuuge gamble money wise. If it decreases from JW that'll make it come into the red.
