RIP Gene Wilder.
Seriously, has anyone done any studies relating to the rate of well known Passings? Like if this year really is as huge as it feels or if it's just been some of the biggest names in a while causing us to notice so much.

The mutual relationship between human and canine goes back thousands and thousands of years and is one of the most natural, purest bonds humans can have. We have physically evolved along one another, side by side, for millenniums. The common theory is that ancient tribal humans took wolves and bred them for hunting. They helped us find food, and in return we gave them safety and a share of the meat.
My family is not a hunter-gatherer tribe, I was not a hunter, and he was not a wolf, but the bond he shared with our family was just as strong. He was an escape artist when he young, and a little bit of grouch when he got older. He wasn’t the cutest thing to ever exist and he wasn’t a fancy purebred. He was a scruffy little mutt. And he was our dog. And we were his humans.
I was just five years old and begging my parents to get me a dog for Christmas, even though we already had several pets, when he showed up at our grandparent’s door just before the holiday. He’s been with us for fifteen years since then, and during that time he’s seen other dogs come and go, been through three houses, and may or may not have impregnated neighbor dogs on a few occasion, He’s a lot of lollipops to eat and squeaky toys to attack. He bit me a couple times.. I believe, for a dog, that his years were good. And the mere fact that his years were good made them good for us. There was love and compassion between him and the family, and that is what any dog or human could ask for.
Voice actor Clay Martin Croker, who voiced Zorak and Moltar on Cartoon Network’s talk show Space Ghost Coast to Coast, The Brak Show, and Cartoon Planet, has died at just 54 years old. RIP Zorak.
Charmian Carr who played Liesl Von Trapp in The Sound of Music, has also died at the age of 73. The hills are mourning.

If it's any consolation, at least you have a father to mourn about. My own dad was/still is never much of a real father except for some years here and there.
Golf legend Arnold Palmer has died at the age of 87.
Miami Marlins ace Jose Fernandez died in a boating accident not long after talking about his new child. He was just 24 years old.

Just last night, my cat Oreo passed away after living with us for maybe over a decade. She was at least nineteen years old. Some of you may have already seen a larger post about this one Facebook if I'm friends with you on there, and I'd appreciate it if you kept my true identity to yourselves on this board. For the first time in my life, I'm without a pet.
I love you, Oreo. I will always, always love you. I hope I can see you again when it's my turn to cross over to the other side. I will love you, miss you, and remember you forever. Requiescas in pace.

I'm sorry for your loss Osh. I know how it feels to lose a longtime childhood pet. I still feel the same way whenever I think about my old dog, Kuma. Take all the time you need to heal. It took at least 2 years for me to fully heal after he died in 2007.

I can, I plan to, and I will. With Oreo's passing and alot of other stresses this year, I've even brought my stuffed animals out of retirement for comfort.

1980's singer George Michael has died of heart failure at just 53.
He had weight problems before this so that had to have played some sort of role.
Before this, we also lost astronaut John Glenn at 95 via old age, TV Dad of the 1980's show Growing Pains Alan Thicke at 69 via heart attack, and Za Za Gabor at age 99 via old age.

As Dead2009 just posted in the Star Wars thread, Carrie Fisher has died at just 60 years old via her heart attack from a few days ago. RIP Princess Leia.

I second those words. I thought she would pull through.
I'm not even a huge fan of hers, but I literally just found out moments ago and I feel very VERY ill. Dizzy and lightheaded even. I can't believe this. How terribly tragic and surreal a year for the world.
Just..... no.....

The Grim Reaper has a sick sense of humor. Instead of her off when she had her heart attack, he decides to wait until the year is almost over and kills off George Michael before he takes her.
I know she died on New Years Eve last year, but when it was it was announced on New Years Day this year that Natalie Cole died, we should have had known that it was a bad omen. I remember how D4E or TDM, but I'm 90% sure it was D4E said "This year has barely begun and we've already lost a big name."
This really has been one of the down years.

Two things have gotten to me today regarding Carrie's death: the first, her dog Gary has a twitter. It's heart breaking.
The second, I realized she probably had no chance no matter the hope, and prayers (and whether you believe in a higher power or not, at least having hope is never a bad thing.). Reading today, when they said she was stable pretty well likely meant she was on the ventilator but it was probably clear she wasn't coming back. 15+ minutes with oxygen, I'd imagine brain death occurred, and the ventilator was just keeping her body alive. It's an awful way to go, and while I doubt there was pain, the fact is she was probably already gone these days we've been waiting to hear something.
Damn, I've made myself cry...again.....
