General Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom News Thread V.2

Judging from Danielle Pinada's comments, there must be shots of dinos.

Well, with leaks already coming out, it would be smart of Universal to release something to draw attention from them. If we have to wait a whole six months for a trailer, I'm willing to bet there'd be a lot of people snooping around trying to get their hands on anything they could to leak to the general public.

More so I mean.

Also, if a couple of the things leaked were confirmed in a teaser/trailer, it would give fans like us the okay to discuss them without fear of repercussions, thus allowing people to really get hyped for the film.

Guys, I don't think we are going to be seeing the exact same teaser they apparently saw. Filming hasn't even finished. It was probably just for them... wasn't the teaser for JW in like November?

If we get one early I bet it just shows a bit of dialogue and the title to build hype.

That's true lol. The general public had some ignorant thoughts about it, not realizing it was a completely unfinished product. And of course the leaked trailer with PS2 CGI didn't help either lol.

Daniella clarified that it was not a teaser but just special footage for the cast and crew. So there is no trailer floating around.

Yeah, the general public has ignorant thoughts about CGI in general. I frequently see people genuinely feel that JW's final CGI was trash. Like, even the Indominus? I don't know, some people are just impossible to please... I think no matter what they do with the trailer for JW2, there's going to be someone, somewhere complaining about something.

I still think that the CGI for Jurassic World was better then what people give it credit for. That being said, I also believe that there was too much of it and in some places, it needed to be much better.

I know right:roll: . I can already imagine the complaints in the you tube comments. Its like these people have never seen those tv movies on the sci fyi channel, now that is bad cgi.

You know, sometimes people also have to consider, "have I really seen 100% convincing CGI?" I'd say no, except for Shin Godzilla. (Seriously go look at how incredible it is)

It was just as bad in the final product.

The only thing I liked was when the raptor heads were on those small cages and Hoskins and that friend of Owen were discussing next to them, that looked really good. Also possibly that very brief event when I-Rex was following the kids before they jumped off in the water, that looked like something that might've been from the other films. Everything else was terrible and fake looking. Same basic color palette on every dinosaur didn't help either.

Even though the (scale-of-yet-unknown) animatronics for JP5 are big relief, my fear is that if the CGI is as unconvincing as it was in JW, the separation between the two techniques will be plain as daylight.

Not that CGI in JP3 was great either, a clear downspiral from 1997 and some of it went even to direct-to-video level, but there wasn't comparatively that much of it.

It's because it's "cool" to hate CGI, even if it's good. 

Before everyone knows it's CGI: "OMG those effects are amazing! Is it an animatronic?"

After people get to know it's CGI: "Oh this doesn't look real it's obviously fake CGI."

Saying that the cgi was unconvincing in jw is fair, but calling it terrible is an exaggeration in my opinion. When i think of bad cgi i think of a sci fyi original movie and jw is not nearly as bad as that.

Comparatively terrible. Of course it's not SyFy movie terrible, in comparison to that it's 'great'. But terrible for what it's meant to be, and for the budget / time-of-the-production ratio, and for the historical context. It's like a bad video game to me.

For 1993, JP CGI is outstanding. For 2017, JP CGI is still pretty good.
For 2015, JW CGI is nothing special. For 2017, JW CGI is bland.

If people honestly still think the CGI in Jurassic World was extremely terrible, you're setting your expectations for what a computer generated animal is supposed to look like, or human for that matter, way too high.

I liked them fine in the first two films, and partly in the third one, 15-25 years ago, so no I don't think my expectations are too high.

Anyways, getting back to JW2...

Daniella said something interesting regarding the Rex. Someone asked her on Twitter whether or not the Rex would have a bigger role in JW2. She said, and I quote.... "Yes...and no".

Just being coy and not wanting to let the cat out of the bag, or does it mean something?

Take it to another thread or make a new one if you wanna compare CGI. Focus on the topic at hand por favor.

It means "I cant tell you" 

It might mean that Tyrannosaurs in general have a larger role, but Rexy as an individual has a smaller role.

Maybe they'll talk about the ones on Sorna and at least one of the other islands. That or they've finally managed to make purebred T. rexes or new ones with eagle/hawk DNA to improve their eyesight and thus, their hunting abilities.

I also think that most of it was because of how Universal read the negetive fan reaction to the JP3 Spino the wrong way. "Oh they don't like the Spino, so they won't like all the other exotic dinos we planned to have." Let's face it, the JP3 Spino has basically force-fed, and people don't like things being forced down their throats. That's a shame since I really think people would LOVE to see a Theriznosaurus or Deinocheirus in a JP movie for the first time.

I'd love to see another buck Tyrannosaur make an appearance. Maybe change up the color scheme a tad.

Also, there'd be more room for strange exotic dinosaurs without the hybrids......Just sayin'.

I remember how back in JPL how you said you like the colors of the Canyon T. rex. I'd like to see that color as well. That or a modified form of it via dark blue instead of grey and have it be semi-nocturnal like owls are.
