The Giganotosaurus in Jurassic World: Dominion, which is named Zeb for some odd reason, was built up to be final villian in the JP franchise. With Colin himself comparing it to the Joker. (Which was stupid.) Yet, it acted quite...normal. If anything else, it was just defending it's territory from Rexy and the Therizinosaurus...Only to get double teamed and killed.
Was anyone else bothered by this? That it was introduced and killed for just defending its turf?
Even if the prolouge was in the movie, I'd still be thinking this simply because neither animal would have the genetic memory to remember the original encounter. And even then, the Giganotosaurus didn't start the fight. The Rex did. So even then, the original Giga was defending itself back then, too.
Full Disclosure. While I'm a T. Rex fan, I also like the Giganotosaurus a lot. It was the original challenger to the throne back on the 1990's, and the fact that the original skeleton was 70% complete (Any dinosaur find that complete is impressive enough. But for the first skeleton of a theropod comparable to T. rex in size is basically a $100 million jackpot find.) made it even more legitimate. The whole thing just seemed...pointless and useless to me.
