I still can't belive it happened haha I'm so happy! The cast can end now, we don't need anyone else. 

Now comes the fun part to speculate, I guess. In 1 week filming starts!


Hope Wu, even as a secondary character, has more screentime than JW and also his actions does more "damage" to the story overall. I really enjoy the concept of him being the cataclysmic factor for all JW2/JW3 events, even with little screentime. That's something I love about him, he doesn't need to be "liked" or appear much to cause chaos. 


Also, don't kill him on first act. 

With the return of Dr. Wu confirmed today...and the fact that the Outpost Location news lists a helicopter landing zone, a guess can be suitably made now.

This scene may be about Wu landing in a helicopter (as this includes a helicopter landing zone) and being ferried by a convoy from there to whatever this building is.

This part "Cast subsequently flee in response to a dramatic event. Scene to be modified by VFX in post production. "

My guess? After dramatic scenes in this house/lab/building (prob shot in studio) the VFX may indicate some sort of explosion or something, hence why they are fleeing.

TL:DR BD Wong is in Pinewood now, and if this within an hours drive, its conceivable he could be there. The landing zone could be him being taken there, and maybe after some scenes, doing something to sabotage it, leading to an explosion, which the cast subsequently flee from.

Yeah I really enjoy Wu setting stuff on "fire" and causing all the chaos in this movie. But please don't kill him right on the start. 

Would be really cool if he regret doing the deal with Hoskins and when he get's to know people are getting all his secrets + the villain being an asshole he just explodes everything.

Yeah as Daniella is called a 'lead' it makes me wonder if she will end up being a villain in this film.

1- I bet Ted or James (or maybe both) will play the main villain/boss that is behind all the deal with Hoskins. Daniela could be a spy working on animal behaviour to help them with raptors or even another hybrid. But yeah my bet is Ted or James, with Toby being another scientist.

2- I wish not but if he's going to die, better be like in the novel, and I think Wu doesn't escape this movie alive.

Yep!! I know, he will have been in three JP films... i am still against older cast members like Neil or Goldblum returning. If its just going to be a forced cameo...and nostalgic returns don't make it automatically better if I have to bring up Independence Day resurgence again.

Yes, I'm already rolling my eyes when reading about Bryan Cranton's speculative cameo discussions in Better Call Saul.

HOWEVER. As I've said before, it's only lazy form of writing if you can't incorporate actors in your product without feeling forced... there could be ways for the old gang to be there without awkwardness or excuses of "impossible to integrate". On top of that, they have already rehashed everything, and I mean everything else from JP in JW, and seemingly this film might follow the suit as well especially with TLW rehashing, so I don't really see the arguments against Grant or Malcolm etc if at the same time the other stuff is seen as "fine" or "acceptable".

Now, do we really NEED Malcolm back? No, not really, but similarly, do we really NEED Raptors back? Or setting X, plot line Y?

Similarly, what are the reasons for NOT NEEDING Malcolm back, other than poor writing? How do they differ for NOT NEEDING island setting for example? I would argue, that while the island setting at this point is like tired slasher movie premise that cannot possibly give any new dimensions to anything, with character portrayals you have much wider ranger of field to work with. They can adapt to situations and written correctly can go with the flow of the film, not be the flow itself.

This is a GREAT thing bc Henry Wu is such an underrated character and while I love Malcolm, Grant and Ellie (I know some will consider this a blasphemy but it's the truth), Wu is WAY more important for the franchise as a whole than them and deservers just as much development/screentime than them. He's the one that created all those dinosaurs, the process of de-extinction, the first dino hybrids and so on. He's the genius, the mistermind behind all this. He and Hammond IMO are the most important characters of the franchise.

I'm loving that Wu is in 3 movies, and if Malcolm (I think he won't) doesn't return, I'll love to rub this on some asshole's faces (not anyone from here, relax guys) that are butthurt over Wu returning and just want to see him die bc "scientists are bad huh".

Yes. It's one of the most important dinosaurs in the franchise. Second only to T. rex and even then many consider it more important. We all know what the fans reaction in JP3 when that one T. rex was reduced to a minor role in that one scene. If it didn't work then, then it's impossible to have a JP/JW movie without the raptors or with them being reduced in a minor role.

But Wu's "status of importance" wasn't really confirmed until JW. In JP (film not novel) he was presented as just some generic scientist guy doing work in the lab and whom Hammond knew by name. When he has his single on-screen scene, there is no indication given that he's directly in charge of anything. In fact there's just one line (by Arnold) later on that even mentions Wu doing something to the dinosaurs. The rest is presumptions given by the fact that we're not introduced to any other scientists, and by the novel references we're not really supposed to talk about in film canons anyway.

What I'm getting at is that they added the character big enough new back story to warrant comeback in JW and now in JP5. His purpose was modified to fit the new situation. And if they can do that with character that was - let's not kid ourselves - exposition purposes in Jurassic Park (again film not the book), then they should be able to do that with characters with actual history, ie Malcolm, Grant and whoever else... if they tried, I mean truly tried.

You do realize that Henry Wu was supposed to have THE SAME role he had on the books? Even the personality? Early JP movie drafts show that, with many alternate versions of Wu dying. I don't know why but some asshole (yep, asshole in my eyes) cut his entire role from the movie and just put him as an "easter egg" in the final movie we know. But after I've read the books and heard Hammond mention his name on the movie, I knew it was the SAME Henry Wu and that he had the same importance he had on the books, that while not showing him more or giving screentime to him, he was the one that made all the dinosaurs on that park, not Grant or Malcolm. Yep it's kinda of a presumptions based on the novel canon, but he was meant to have his role before in the movie universe too, and Colin bringing him back + explaining his actions over the years just confirmed this. Even not appearing too much, his actions were explained and ARE CANON, so yes, he is important on the movies too.

Looks like I'm going to prepare to eat crow for this! In a relatively short span of time, the cast for JW2/JP5 has evened out to what looks like a very good mix of actors from various backgrounds. So far, I dare say it's a pretty star-studded cast compared to previous installments in the series.

Franchise Veterans: Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and B.D. Wong

Renowned character actors: Ted Levine, James Cromwell, Rafe Spall and Toby Jones

Unknowns: Daniella Pineda and Justice Smith (and the as-yet unannounced "Lucy")

Not too many lesser known actors, and a healthy number of respectable actors who have featured in high profile films (from a classic like Silence of the Lambs to recent blockbusters like Prometheus). Cromwell and Levine especially were big in the 90s, while Vincent D'Onofrio was the only recognizable name from the 90s (particularly for his famous role of Edgar the Big from Men in Black). Maybe it's just me, but having more actors who were more renowned in the 90s helps tie the film series together.

I'll never understand why people would want people like Malcolm or Grant back, they add nothing to the story, Wu on the other hand does, he is enough for me going forward in regard to the JP connection, wouldn't mind seeing Dodgson back though...

I would agree that there are people in this cast that could concievably be Dodgson. However my theory is now with no basis whatsover that Daniella could be his daughter lol.

I agree 100% with dance2nite. We don't need Grant or Malcolm back just for useless fanservice. JP isn't about them. They are not in need anymore. Move on from past. Not to mention if they appear, people will be so blind that you can add homocraptors on the movie and they'll like it bc "Grant and Malcolm".

Im all for Malcolm returning, as a cameo.

Of course I'm going to be in JW2/JP5! Why did you expect differently?

All jokes aside I'm pumped for Wu's third appearance in the franchise. I hope he'll be in the first trailer.
