Honestly, I'm not in love with the trailer. Hit me as a little corny and overall underwhelming. Missing the intrigue that the trailers for G14 had.

I gotta say, I love how they handled the monsters so far. Godzilla, Rodan and Mothra couldn't be more perfect (love how mothra looks majestic/peaceful and Rodan is all fiery ), but i'm especially excited about Ghidorah- i'm happy that he is finally portrayed as an ultimate force of destruction and extinction who disrupts the natural order by his mere presence (those electric thunderstorms are dope ), and not as some alien race's lapdog
EDIT: Also it's rather awesome that Godzilla's resting place is located in the ruins of an ancient city (Atlantis? Mu?) where an advanced civilization used to worship him. Wonder what role it'll play in the movie
DOUBLE EDIT: Also, here's the official comic-con poster. Looks badass

Here's the entire plot as originally posted on reddit. It was verified by multiple people and later confirmed by the trailer. It even includes the post-credits scene.
Obvious spoilers, read at your own risk. It is pretty awesome though.
Spoiler:
*Flashback: San Franscisco, 2014*
The movie opens with a POV of Vera Farmiga and Kyle Chandler searching for their son during the San Franscisco battle. We see Godzilla emerge and they stare at him. We then cut to the present with Vera Farmiga and Millie Bobby Brown, it is established that Farmiga and Chandler have separated since their son was lost.
Vera Farmiga and Millie Brown, both Monarch scientists, investigate an enormous pulsating egg inside a temple in China, it soon awakens and hatches, giving birth to a larva Mothra who begins to freak out due to confusion and webs a couple of soldiers to the temple wall. Vera Farmiga decides to use a device her and her ex-husband invented known as “The Orca” to calm Mothra by emitting frequencies that only Titans can respond to. Mothra becomes docile, and we get the scene in the trailer where Millie reaches out to touch her.
Eco Terrorists suddenly show up in jets and begin bombing the area. Mothra manages to escape during the chaos and flees underneath a waterfall. The terrorists “kidnap” both Vera and Millie.
We see Watanabe, Hawkins and Middleditch being questioned at a Senate hearing about whether the military should take over operations at Monarch when they get the news about the kidnapping…
Monarch reaches out to Kyle Chandler because he can track the frequencies the eco terrorists leave behind when using the Orca. He doesn’t fully warm up to the organization due to their involvement with Godzilla and the Titans, as he blames Godzilla for his son's death.
They take Chandler to their base called "Castle Bravo" in Bermuda. It’s established Monarch has many facilities all around the world for different Titans still in hibernation. The Bermuda camp is for tracking Godzilla, we see a glimpse of Godzilla (the scene from the trailer where he illuminates his dorsal fins in front of our cast) and it’s established that Monarch has been tracking him since he left San Franscisco bay five years ago.
They soon discover the terrorists are heading to Antarctica to free a creature called “Monster Zero”, their leader is an Ex-British Special Forces who grew to resent humanity for all the wars and environmental destruction its caused.
The terrorists lay an ambush for Monarch and kill most of the G-Team. Chandler sneaks his way into the containment facility and tries to free his ex-wife and daughter, only to find Vera Farmiga as she detonates the ice herself and frees the monster.
Charles Dance, Farmiga, and Millie leave for their chopper. Once they’re at a safe distance in the sky, Vera Farmiga activates the Orca and awakens Monster Zero. The monster rampages for a bit until Godzilla emerges from the ocean and engages him. It's a pretty even battle at the start, but Monster Zero gains the upper hand and knocks Godzilla into the sea. Monster Zero continues his rampage, even swooping down and eating Sally Hawkins in a scene reminiscent of the Skull crawler/Bill Randa scene from Kong: Skull Island, before "disappearing" in a freak tropical storm.
Monarch is bewildered by Vera’s actions, and Monster Zero's disappearance. They realize that the next target is Mexico and ready themselves to head there. Suddenly, Vera Farmiga directly contacts them from Mexico, revealing she was working for the terrorists the entire time (Cue speech from the trailer)
With the "freak" tropical storm heading their way, Monarch decides to evacuate the city, but before the evacuation is complete, Charles Dance orders Vera Farmiga to use the Orca and wake up Rodan. Rodan explodes out of his containment chamber causing the volcano to erupt and begins laying waste to the city and people. It is here that Millie starts to reflect the carnage and begins to doubt her mom’s intentions, but puts her doubt in the back of her mind and hopes everything will be fine.
The storm swamps over Mexico and Monarch realizes that Monster Zero wasn’t lost in the storm, but IS the storm.
In a last ditch effort, Monarch hopes to lead Rodan to Monster Zero in hopes that they’ll kill each other. Monarch exploits Rodan’s particular aggressiveness towards jets and engages in a dogfight with him over the ocean in an attempt to get him to chase them. Monarch leads Rodan into Monster Zero’s storm and the two have a short battle, with Monster Zero easily beating him. Monster Zero then focuses his attention towards our main cast, chargin up to kill them.
Godzilla emerges from the ocean just in the nick of time and engages Monster Zero in another battle, saving Monarch, but the dragon manages to gain the upper hand again, constricting Godzilla with his body and necks.
David Strathairn makes an appearance via monitor and claims things are getting out of hand, issuing the use of a new, experimental anti-Titan weapon known as the “De-Oxygenator”. Ken Watanabe pleads with him against the idea and says that humanity must “trust in Gojira”, but much like the first film, he’s overruled.
Godzilla, while still in the clutches of Monster Zero, manages to tear off one of the heads, but the military fires the de-oxygenator at the two anyway. Godzilla seemingly "dies" and sinks into the ocean, but Monster Zero survives it.
Monster Zero flies over Rodan’s volcano and perches atop it, and begins drawing energy through its storm. It is here that Monster Zero completely regenerates his missing head! Rodan flies over to him and bows to his king, becoming submissive.
Monster Zero then lets loose a bone-chilling scream and suddenly all across the world, Titans everywhere begin awakening from their hibernation...
(Cue Charles Dance’s line “Long Live The King)
Monarch realizes through Zhang Ziyi's reading of mythological texts that Monster Zero (now named Ghidorah) was a "demon who fell from the sky”, alluding to an alien-origin. It is also revealed that Godzilla and Ghidorah have fought in the past.
At this point, Millie is fully convinced her mom and the terrorist organization are wrong.
With Godzilla “dead”, and nothing standing in their way, Rodan, Ghidorah, and the rest of the Titans go on a rampage across the world, destroying various cities and leaving little in their path. Ghidorah even begins roosting in Washington DC.
Mothra emerges from her cocoon underneath the waterfall and flies over the Castle Bravo facility in the ocean to lead Monarch to Godzilla, who’s still alive, but just barely.
It is stated that Godzilla and Mothra’s species had regularly allied themselves together in ancient times and share a special connection to one another.
Kyle Chandler begins to develop a growing affinity for Godzilla and joins Monarch aboard a submarine to try and revive him. Monarch locates him resting on the ocean floor inside an ancient underwater city, feeding off radiation from the sea floor to stay alive.
In order to heal Godzilla fast, Monarch decides to send a nuke to him, but due to technical difficulties, the nuke won’t launch, meaning someone must take it to Godzilla manually and detonate it. During a very emotional scene, Ken Watanabe accepts it HAS to be done and volunteers himself.
He dives down and drags the nuke up a flight of ancient steps and sets the nuke down in front of an injured Godzilla. He sets the timer and places his hand on Godzilla’s snout, takes a deep breath and says "Goodbye old friend" in Japanese, then the nuke explodes…
A supercharged Godzilla rises out of the water, bigger and stronger than ever, even sporting more traditional dorsal plates reminiscent to Godzilla 1954’s dorsal fins. Godzilla spots the Monarch team and looks Chandler in the eye, and they share a moment.
Godzilla is rejuvenated and eager to take on Ghidorah one last time… he then releases an ultra powerful blast of atomic breath into the sky, showing off his power.
Turns out the eco terrorist’s bunker was in Boston the entire time. Vera Farmiga finally realizes King Ghidorah will destroy the Earth far worse than humans could ever do, but Charles Dance doesn’t care and ignores her pleas to turn back.
Millie overhears this and decides to take matters into her own hands, stealing the Orca and using it to lure Ghidorah to Boston so the other Titans can destroy him.
King Ghidorah gets to Boston and the destruction begins, but Godzilla and Mothra appear. Mothra and Godzilla go after Ghidorah, but Rodan shows up and intervenes, leading to a battle against him and Mothra while Godzilla and Ghidorah fight eachother.
Rodan comes off as the stronger of the two until Mothra manages to take him out by severally wounding him, stabbing him through the chest with a hidden stinger.
Monarch realizes that Godzilla is expending too much energy and will go thermonuclear and explode, so everyone needs to get the hell out of dodge quick.
Even with Godzilla’s newly acquired atomic power-up, he’s still incapable of defeating Ghidorah, even though they're almost on equal grounds now. Ghidorah chomps down on some power lines and begins drawing electrical energy, super-charging himself and easily beats Godzilla down again.
Mothra flies in before Ghidorah can deliver the killing blow to Godzilla, landing on Godzilla's downed body to protect him. She ultimately ends up sacrificing herself when Ghidorah strikes her down with his lightning as she flies towards him.
Mothra’s body burns up, and her ashes rain over Godzilla's body, transferring her energy to him, increasing his power even more so, now sporting a burning red “ember-like” aura around him.
The Russell family is brought together again and Vera Farmiga makes a noble sacrifice to use the Orca to drive Ghidorah’s attention towards her. Allowing the Monarch team to escape via chopper. During a car chase, Ghidorah strikes her car with lightning and launches her from her vehicle. Laying on the road, her last words are "Long Live The King".
Godzilla then unleashes a newly gained power, dispersing his swelling energy by bombarding Ghidorah with atomic pulse stomps that burn and melt Ghidorah away in a fiery explosion.
As the smoke clears, it seems Ghidorah’s is still alive, when we see his head emerge from the smoke, only for it to be revealed that Godzilla has its severed neck dangling from his mouth. Godzilla fires his atomic breath through its throat and out its mouth, engulfing it in flames, Godzilla then chews up the scorched chunks of fried meat and swallows it.
The movie concludes with Rodan approaching Godzilla, then suddenly all the other Titans converge on Boston and begin to surround Godzilla.
Instead of attacking, Rodan chooses to bow to him, followed by the rest of the Titans. The movie ends with Godzilla roaring into the sky with all the titans bowed down in front of him.
*Roll Credits*
We see news clippings over the credits claiming Godzilla to be the protector of humanity, while others state where the other awakened Titans are residing, such as Rodan resting in Fiji.
The post credit scene consists of Charles Dance meeting up with a mysterious fisherman who sells him the decapitated head of Ghidorah that Godzilla severed in Mexico…

HUGE NEWS!
Godzilla vs. Kong has began shooting and the plot synopsis has been revealed.

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.
A human conspiracy...Mechagodzilla perhaps? That's my own personal guess. Then again, Mechagodzilla has been my favorite Godzilla foe, so I have bias.

The visuals are amazing, the cast is great, the monsters look great.
Having said that...does anyone else resent them making Godzilla kind-of a cuddly superhero with humanity as his "pet"? Isn't he supposed to be a destructive force of nature, even when he's technically a "good guy"?

To be fair, he was like that in the mid-1960's-1970's. I have faith that this movie will take a far more realistic tone while still being faithful.

I was about to point that out, Rhedo, yeah.
I wouldn't call Godzilla "cuddly" in these movies at all. Godzilla is whoever he wants to be. In these movies, he very much feels like a part of nature. Whether it's destructive or constructive, I think that depends on your point of view, but for me Godzilla feels like he's just protecting his turf, and God help humanity if they get in his way. He's not really here to save us, but we don't want to piss him off either. He's the enemy of our enemy.

King of the Monsters was great! All Hail The King!
Critics said that it beednnote character development and what not but it's a Godzilla movie, its not about super deep story lines. Regardless, it doesnt have a decent story line that's easy to follow and really does explain some things. There are a lot of nods to past movies and source material which is just awesome. Its not perfect but an easy 9/10 in my book.
