Actors are angry that the Oscars has a new 'most popular movie' catagory.
Wouldn't it make more sense for the Oscars to nominate moves that WERE POPULAR FROM THE START, rather then nominate movies that for the most part, only a handful of people saw?

Disney could shutdown 20th Century Fox, citing not looking to make genre films.
If this is true, seriously, fuck you Disney. I love the Aliens and Predator films, and if those are on the chopping block, I am not happy.

I assumed they would be. They don't exactly seem like things Disney would want to make. In fact, I'm surprised Disney didn't just let Fox keep them.

Same.
If this happens I will be really upset.
I don't see this happening. Disney like money too much to kill off all of Fox's properties. I can see them trading the Alien and/or Predator rights for Uni in exchange for the Hulk movie distribution rights and something else.
RIP Star Trek 4.

It looks like Fox knew about Byryan Singer's...uh...dubious nature, shall we say.
Which will be talked about in an upcoming Esquire article.
Oh. And Ridley Scott is finally making Gladiator 2. Kind of late to restart this after so much time has gone by.
And speaking of sequels that should have been made already...Mike Myers says that Austin Powers 4 is 'looking good'.
Can somebody please explain to me what's with all these sequels that should have been made long ago that are only NOW getting made?! It has to be more then just nostalgia.

Andy Muschietti, who made "Mama" and "It", and is currently making "It: Chapter Two", has signed on to do a re-imagined version of "The Time Machine", with Leonardo DiCaprio producing through Warner Bros. I've quite intrigued by this, and coming from a horror background, his morlocks will probably be creepy as hell...though I kind of hope they update the things from the awesome 60's movie. For example, he's a great take on the morlock (a bust by Tony Mcvey):
Meanwhile, Julius Avery, director of this month's J.J. Abrams-produced "Overlord", has signed on to do a new Flash Gordon for Fox, with Matthew Vaughn producing. I'm interested in this as well, but doubt very sincerely that it'll survive the Disney by-out as they already have Star Wars, Marvel, and now Avatar.

A 100 year old Paramount owned ranch got burned down by the California wildfires.
This is tragicomedy. It's funny because it happened to a movie studio that's on fire (Paramount is $12 billion in debt) yet it's sad that such a historic place got destroyed.

it is a boon for them. if it was insured they can recoup the loss in cash.
Also, too bad Austin Powers 4 came too late for Verne Troyer. Sigh.
