| I've always wondered this, especially with my foray into the wonderful world of Site B gameplay. Is the map size locked? As in, is there no way to expand that with mods?
During Operation Genesis mode, I can fit just about every dinosaur on a max sized island with a reasonable individual pen. That works for the intention of park building, but not for Site B. With Site B, I want to be able to have vast areas with different geological shape and makeup of dinosaur populations. I've already done this on my current playthrough, but with the minimal map size, it just feels like a suburban neighborhood with different backyards.
So yeah, is map size just a thing we gotta deal with?

| Try doing this, I found it on a quick google search. It's worth a shot. Just be sure to keep an original file in case this breaks the game so you can delete the edited file and put the original back.
Open your original Constant.ini file (Found in the JPOG/Data dictionary) and search for these lines:
TerraFormMountainLevel0Width = 50; TerraFormMountainLevel1Width = 85; TerraFormMountainLevel2Width = 120; TerraFormLakeLevel0Width = 35; TerraFormLakeLevel1Width = 50; TerraFormLakeLevel2Width = 65; TerraFormFlatLevel0Width = 50; TerraFormFlatLevel1Width = 85; TerraFormFlatLevel2Width = 120; TerraFormHillLevel0Width = 50; TerraFormHillLevel1Width = 85; TerraFormHillLevel2Width = 120; TerraFormMountainDeformRatio = 2; TerraFormLakeDeformRatio = 1.5; TerraFormHillDeformRatio = 1.8; TerraFormFlatDeformRatio = 2;
Then change it to
TerraFormMountainLevel0Width = 128; TerraFormMountainLevel1Width = 64; TerraFormMountainLevel2Width = 32; TerraFormLakeLevel0Width = 32; TerraFormLakeLevel1Width = 64; TerraFormLakeLevel2Width = 128; TerraFormFlatLevel0Width = 32; TerraFormFlatLevel1Width = 64; TerraFormFlatLevel2Width = 128; TerraFormHillLevel0Width = 128; TerraFormHillLevel1Width = 64; TerraFormHillLevel2Width = 32; TerraFormMountainDeformRatio = 1; TerraFormLakeDeformRatio = 1; TerraFormHillDeformRatio = 1; TerraFormFlatDeformRatio = 1; _______________ "Don't go into the long grass!" - Ajay "She doesn't even have a Sega! | Thanks for the reply man!
Unfortunately, I already had most of those values in my constant.ini. It made no changes to the overall size available for me to work with so I guess this is as big as it is going to get. Thanks for the help though!

| The map size is bound to a set grid in the engine. There had been the idea to downscale all models using the tmd model processing tool to create the illusion of a "bigger" island space, but objects such as buildings and paths prevent that from happening because they are bound to the tile sizes of that grid. equinox- said: - Quote :
- The dimensions of the island map is almost certainly parameterized in the engine, and not just a constant. It's bigger than 256 tiles, and definitely smaller than 32k. It's possible decoding the save file would allow you to modify the map size.
He then went on to mention that there's a slight chance that he may develop a terrain editor at a later time. As it stands now, modifying the map size is still very much up in the air if it will happen or not.

| According to equinox-, the terrain data is specifically in the .s00 file. How that's accessed, cracked, and then modified is way beyond me. It seems that another breakthrough software tool would need to be created, which there is still a slim possibility. | |
