Compsognathus, often called a "Compy" was famous for a long time for being one of the smallest dinosaurs known. A carnivore, it is unknown if Compies are hunters or scavengers, however one specimen found did possess the fossil remains of a partially digested lizard within it's own fossilized body.

Jurassic Park: A
Compsognathus prop was built for the first movie, however was never used on screen. It is not until
The Lost World: Jurassic Park that we see them. The first encountered dinosaurs of the film, when a small British girl named Cathy Bowman and her parents decide to hold a lunch on the beach of Isla Sorna, unaware that the island was once Jurassic Park's Site B, the production site of the dinosaurs. As Cathy takes a walk whilst eating a bit of roast beef, she comes a across an apparently lone compy, which attracts the attention of Cathy. Feeding the animal a bite of roast beef, Cathy soon realizes that she has become surrounded by Compies, who then proceed to attack her. Although Cathy is injured, John Hammond reports that she does in fact recover from the attack. Compies are encountered once again by Dieter Stark, a member of the InGen Harvester team led by Peter Ludlow in a mission to capture dinosaurs to put into a new Jurassic Park. Stumbling on the lone Compy, Dieter is disturbed by the creatures apparent lack of fear towards humans, which is explained by fellow team member and paleontologist Robert Burke, as a result of never encountering humans before. He goes on to explain that Compies aren't to be considered dangerous and are generally to be considered scavengers. This sentiment is later proven false when Dieter encounters a Compy during a bathroom break. Having strayed too far from the group, Dieter finds himself lost and tumbles down a steep hill into a riverbed. Here he is quickly pounced by an entire pack of compies and is barely able to fight them all off. Standing and attempting to call for the group, Dieter is followed the the Compies. Dieter attempts to frighten the animals off by kicking at them and throwing rocks at them, all at to no avail. Slipping on a loose rock, Dieter falls into the shallow creek only to be once against swarmed by the Compies. Once again barely managing to remove them, Dieter makes it so far as to climb over a fallen log in the creek bed where the Compy pack consumes him, leaving very little left.
Compies are seen scurrying at the edge of a Spinosaurus and Tyrannosaurus fight in
Jurassic Park /// and are once again seen when Eric Kirby, who recognizes their shrill cries, closes the hatch to his tanker truck in an attempt to take shelter. This reaction would suggest that Eric is aware of the danger that Compies can inflict.
