It is just one person's personal opinion and feelings. Like what you like, enjoy what you want to enjoy. Art is relative and subjective.

And this is coming from someone who is not that happy about many of the things in the movie.

Yes, it can. If they show tony stark constipated trying to take a dump for 3 hours it'll still be certified fresh on RT with 98% and the fanboys would be complaining about the 2% negative reviews being biased.

Reviewers are in Disneys pockets.

We're down to this stupid conspiracy theory again? If that were true, then the first JW wouldn't have got a high RT score as it did and A Wrinkle In Time would have got a much better RT score. Besides, in this age of Iphones, Reddit, 4Chan, TMZ, we would have seen proof of that.


As for the anti-superhero bias here. Look, I'm an MCU fan, but at the same time, I DON'T want it to dominate Hollywood. I'm a JP and Godzilla fan before the MCU, So I get the anger. But here's the problem, movies have to be better in order to compete with the MCU and, so far, the case is that it's possible that we're not getting what we were promised via this movie being better and smarter then the first JW.

Even though the critics are obviously not bought out, they're extremely lenient with Marvel considering how dull/predictable and by the numbers the past bunch have been.

I’m sorry to stoke the fire but I have to say it. Critics may certainly not be literally bought out by money, but they sure as hell enjoy all these free screenings and events that Disney provides them. If I was a famous YouTube critic I’d be more lenient with them as well since they are literally getting bigger and bigger each year.

Edit: I just read through the thread and realize this is off topic but I wanted to say it. That’s all I’ll be saying though.

I think JW probably reviewed better because it’s nostalgia value, and I think the transition from the island to the mansion is hurting the film.

Like I keep seeing people saying “the island part sucked, but the mansion gets good” and vice versa.

Well, I guess, but I'm still down about that mediocre score haha. It had moved up to the 70s again earlier but a few negatives have dropped it back to the 60s again.

70 and 67 top critics

Curious to see what the score would have been had it not had that slide yesterday in which it went from 67% or whatever to 59%.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the reviews. I just saw some footage form a ...... um source.... and everything is looking great to me.

Some critics made up their minds before they saw the film. Two types of JP fans exist.

1. JP fans. People who think the original JP is a masterpiece because of how well contained a story it is and how it wraps up.

2. JP fans who also believe the above, but also really appreciate where the series was going with TLW.

I think the bad reviews will come from category 1 no matter what. Maybe I’m just being a fanboy but it’s what I think.

There will always be a portion of a fanbase who wont like anything in a series after the first film, especially if that film is a masterpiece.

Exactly my point. Which is why I think some critics already went in ready to shit on the movie.

On the lighter side, Collider's Perri Nemiroff is a JP geek who greatly prefers the first movie, and she generally enjoyed FK. So that's a good sign at least.

I personally did not really like the second half of war very much. But I can’t deny how gorgeous of a film it is, and how powerful.

It’s not just an action movie, it has a lot of underlying themes(especially with the villain). And I think it’d translate beautifully over to JP. And of course the CGI would be brilliant.

I like Reeves overall, but I think Cloverfield was really mediocre. Let Me In was pretty good. Kinda a shame DC have him wrapped up in yet ANOTHER Batman movie. Perhaps we can get him for JW4 if there ever is one haha

I think we just need to have horror directors take over the Jurassic franchise. Let James Wan handle a film, I say.

OKAY YOU GUYS ARE TALKING ABOUT APES MOVIE WITHOUT ME??? I'M A HUUUUUGE FAN OF POTA, like it's my second favorite franchise after JP.

Matt Reeves is such an amazing person and director, he would do amazing in JW3. He really is about developing the characters and putting quiet yet touching scenes. He would develop EVERY SINGLE character in JW3 (specially Wu I just can imagine what he would do with him omg)...

before the movie was out and when the trailers came out, i was expecting people to not like the first half and love the second half but it sounds like its actually the opposite now (for the critics)

I'm still hearing different things. Really not seeing a consensus on which half is better....only that they're different from one another.
