The Jurassic fandom is NOT small, it is one of the biggest fandoms in film history.

I have read countless threads and posts on this forum and I have seen quite a few posters saying that the Jurassic fanbase is just a "vocal minority" or acting like it is some small online cult that has no significance.

Uh guys... Jurassic is a top 10 film franchise in history.

The only franchises that are clearly bigger than Jurassic (in terms of fandom size) are Star Wars, Marvel, D.C. and Harry Potter.

So the Jurassic fandom is still in or around the top 5 in terms of biggest fandoms in film history.

It is not a "vocal minority" much less an inconsequential online cult.

This is why I just can not believe that quite a few posters here just see it as if it were a fact.

The Jurassic fandom might be big but it's not among the largest and definitely not in the top 5 or even top 10. One way to estimate a fandom's size and importance is to check the number of fanfics written by the fandom.

On fanfiction.net, there are 2,5k Jurassic fics while the largest fandoms have around 50k fics.
If you check those numbers there https://www.fanfiction.net/movie/, you will notice that there is more than 10 fandoms larger than JP.

That website separated all of the different Marvel characters into different categories. Like instead of Category 1, Star Wars, and Category 2, Marvel, they went Category 1, Star Wars, Category, 2 Avengers, Category 3 Iron Man, Cartegory 4, Spider Man and so on.... Making it seem like there are 20 or so franchises bigger than Jurassic. When many of those fall under Marvel.

I do agree and recognize that Star Wars and Marvel are the clear biggest film franchises in film history but I still have to say that Jurassic is in or near the top 10 biggest for one reason, it is hard to think of a bigger phenomenon in the 1990s than Jurassic. The only other phenomenons of that decade that could be bigger was the original Power Rangers and Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and the Chicago Bulls, but that is TV and sports.
